Podcast: Pastor John Nagle preaches through Philippians 2:5-11.  Jesus’ Ultimate Attitude of Joy

Someone once said that “attitude is everything.”  While that may not be 100% accurate, it would be safe to say that it is pretty close to it!  Case in point:  The Apostle Paul is writing to his church in Philippi (Greece) while a prisoner in Rome (Italy).  He is there awaiting trail before the insane Roman Emperor Nero. What’s the charge?  Illegally teaching that Jesus offers a changed life which will last forever to anyone who accepts Him as their God,  King and Savior from sin.  In Nero’s megalomaniac mind, such belief is a crime punishable by death.  Under these circumstances,  what is Paul writing about?  Well, he is definitely not complaining or whining.  Instead, he is telling his fellow Christians about the right kind of attitude that a follower of Jesus needs to have in order to live a joyful life no matter how hard the circumstances.  Paul’s attitude was an amazing reflection of Christ and a wonderful example for us.  God used Paul to record, for all time, the component parts of what must be called the “ultimate attitude of joy.”
