There are times in life when it is good to take a pause from the normal routine and sort of “catch up” with oneself, friends and God. I hope you won’t mind if I take this occasion to do that with you, my Faith family. Truly, I feel deeply compelled of the Holy Spirit to do so. This Sunday is one week shy of Becky and me coming to Faith nine months ago in October of 2009. In many ways, it seems like we have been here for so much longer than that & in other ways it still feels like we have just arrived. I think if each of us were honest about it, we’d all say that having this new pastor come has been at some points a wonderful “ride” and at others, well … a bit bumpy. But I do know that I am glad we came and I pray that you feel the same way also. So, today, I want to open myself up to you and share what the Lord has placed upon my heart. My desire is to be honest and transparent with you. My desire is to let you know that I love you. My desire is to speak a message of God into the core of Faith’s soul that will get us all on the same page, moving in the same direction toward the same purpose of spiritual health! This sort of unified & harmonious “coming together” is, I believe, the truly worthy vision that the Lord of the Church, Jesus Christ Himself, yearns for all of us at Faith to experience. Few churches today have this. But we can & must – all by His grace & all for His glory!
