Pastor John Nagle preaches from Philippians 4:10-13 - How to be Rock Solid in Rocky Situations. The Apostle Paul is the greatest example of what it means to stay spiritually on fire, personally stable and lovingly connecting with others despite being in the shakiest of circumstances. If you are like me, when we see a person with this level of godly maturity we can't help but exclaim, with great admiration, "Wow!" And then, realizing we want to follow Jesus like this too, we ask, "How?" What did the Holy Spirit teach Paul that enabled him to "stay on top" despite battling the worst downward pull and pressure that the most rotten circumstances of life could bring his way? Today we'll see five God-given principles that show those who follow Jesus how to get through, and grow through, life's toughest challenges.

Pastor John Nagle preaches from Philippians 4:6-9 "Anxiety." The mere mention of the word causes us to shudder. We all hate anxiety. It robs from us our joy in life and turns us cynical. It causes us to lose courage and leaves us unable to make wise decisions. It steals away our sleep or shakes us with nightmares. It sours our perspective and makes us negative. It births fearful anger in the heart and ruins relationships with those we love deeply. It hurts our health and burdens the soul. It takes our eyes off of Jesus and sinks our trust in God. Without a doubt - anxiety is a destructive tool that the Devil uses to addict us and then cripple us. It has to be overcome before it hurts us any further. Thankfully, our loving and gracious Heavenly Father knows our need. Which is why He makes it possible for His beloved children to defeat anxiety and gives us clear direction on how to do it. It's time to win over worry! Today we'll study six principles from Scripture that the Holy Spirit will enable us to put into action in order to live in faith and freedom.

Conflict is going to happen. That much we know. But the tough question really is – How do we resolve conflict and bring about harmony? For without good conflict resolution skills the relational struggles that are common to all of us will doom those relationships to tragic shallowness or painful separation. Just take a peek … at the monstrous amount of churches that split … at all the Jesus followers in the same church that won’t fellowship together … at the staggering number of Christian marriages where divorce has occurred or where little is left but loveless coexistence between spouses or between parents & children. This list could grow huge, but we all get the picture. So, can God be of any help here? Of course He can! After all, He is the Wonderful Counselor (Isaiah 9:6). In Philippians 4:1-5 the Bible outlines for us concrete action steps that the Holy Spirit will walk us through when our goal is to stop the hurting and rediscover the harmony.

They deal with God’s coming plans for humanity, the world and eternity. So, what can we expect the future to hold? Today we’ll look at an overview of prophecy to see where God says we are all headed.

Pastor John preaches from Philippians 3:17-21. Living with Faithful Focus Part 1. In our previous study of Philippians 3:12-16 we took a look at what it means to live the Christian life with momentum. But, the problem with momentum alone is that it can power us down the wrong road just as quickly as it can power us down the right road. So to make momentum truly effective it has to be coupled with the right focus. For if you, as a Christ follower, are focused on the right goal with momentum at your back then spiritually you will be exactly where God wants you! What then should our ultimate focus be? What’s the goal? Obviously, the answer is to be like Jesus. And how do we do that? Well, it is in the answering of this question that we want to talk about “focus”. Because here’s the truth: the more we live a spiritually focused life in this sadly unfocused world, the more we will definitely become like and the more we will beautifully reflect the glories of our Lord Jesus Christ. Additionally, when Holy Spirit momentum is combined with the right Biblical focus the blessing for the Christian will be “over the top” joy!

Pastor John preaches from his heart and various scripture passages. Time to Reflect, Restate & Recommit. There are times in life when it is good to take a pause from the normal routine and sort of “catch up” with oneself, friends and God. I hope you won’t mind if I take this occasion to do that with you, my Faith family. Truly, I feel deeply compelled of the Holy Spirit to do so. This Sunday is one week shy of Becky and me coming to Faith nine months ago in October of 2009. In many ways, it seems like we have been here for so much longer than that & in other ways it still feels like we have just arrived. I think if each of us were honest about it, we’d all say that having this new pastor come has been at some points a wonderful “ride” and at others, well … a bit bumpy. But I do know that I am glad we came and I pray that you feel the same way also. So, today, I want to open myself up to you and share what the Lord has placed upon my heart. My desire is to be honest and transparent with you. My desire is to let you know that I love you. My desire is to speak a message of God into the core of Faith’s soul that will get us all on the same page, moving in the same direction toward the same purpose of spiritual health! This sort of unified & harmonious “coming together” is, I believe, the truly worthy vision that the Lord of the Church, Jesus Christ Himself, yearns for all of us at Faith to experience. Few churches today have this. But we can & must – all by His grace & all for His glory!
