Doorstep Ministries:

At Faith much of the organized outreach of Faith on the local level is under the umbrella of Doorstep Ministries.

Doorstep Ministries exist to demonstrate God’s love for our Kent neighbors by meeting them at their physical, emotional, social and spiritual points of need.

The church gathers to worship and to become equipped for kingdom service.  The body then scatters to impact their world.  At Doorstep Ministries we provide services to our community and build relationships with those we serve.  Our desire is to identify tangible ways in which anyone can serve and share their faith, using their gifts, talents and availability.

Our strategic approach is to serve relationally using the following ministry channels:

Campus Ministry

Community Ministry

Though we serve with one purpose, it is carried out in a variety of ways, employing many distinct yet complimentary expressions of the love of God.

Campus Ministry at Neely-O’Brien

  • Tutors/tutoring – during and after school tutoring using both youth and adults
  • Mentoring – adult tutors spend extraordinary amounts of time building into the lives of the children beyond the academic needs they face.  This time is generally offered to the children once each week, typically during lunchtime.
  • Doorstep Kids Club – Bible club on campus after school Wednesdays 2:45 – 4pm(stories, crafts, food, fun)
  • Summer School – the month of July is allocated to helping the Summer School teachers lead the program of helping students catch up and get ready for the school year ahead
  • Staff Support – throughout the school year we bring food and words of encouragement to the staff and administration
  • Ready! for Kindergarten  – we have initiated the training of parents as they are taught how to prepare their young children for the start of school

Community Ministry

  • Blessings in a Box – collecting food, books and a message of love, delivered in person over the Christmas season
  • Transportation – driving children to Faith (each Sunday and for special events)
  • Study Buddies – a weekly, off campus reading program designed to assist those who could benefit from improving their reading skills. Times and Locations: Mondays 2:45 – 4pm at Waterford at the Lakes, Mondays 4:15 – 5:30 at The Atrium
  • ALERT – short term, immediate response to a family crisis
  • Blanket Bouquets – tangible gift of encouragement to those who are facing a tragedy (possible death or terminal illness), a difficulty (significant illness) or a celebration (new baby).  The home-made blankets are hand delivered along with a printed note from Doorstep Ministries
  • Family Services – as families have crisis points in their lives, we respond with relatively long term emotional support
  • Clothing Ministry – the collection, sorting and distribution of clothes to those in need
  • Community Events – quarterly events held at Neely-O’Brien Elementary School for the purpose of bringing clothes, games, health care, food, crafts and haircuts to the families of the community we serve
